May 19, 2022 – More than 600 people from the Richardson community and beyond, including First Lady of Texas Cecilia Abbott, showed up to help celebrate the grand opening of West Coast University’s newest campus. With 136,000 square feet of learning space, the West Coast University-Texas campus was built to help provide a capable, confident supply of healthcare workers. First Lady Abbott commended the successes of WCU and the fact that, in 2021, WCU students contributed over 100,000 clinical hours at local area hospitals. “We hardly need a reminder that the past couple of years have been challenging and they have also highlighted the immense importance of healthcare workers,” Abbott said. “That is why I am excited to see such energy and enthusiasm here at West Coast University. It’s inspiring to see this next generation healthcare workers who are ready to meet the needs of today and of tomorrow.” WCU shareholder and board member David Pyle said the celebration marked the end of nearly two decades of planning and preparation in Texas and the beginning of a long tradition in the Richardson area. “This has been a years-long endeavor to see this campus get built, through a global pandemic, and to see it come to reality,” Pyle said. “It has been a big dream for us and a culmination of really the last 16 years or so of building West Coast University to get to this place — and this campus is the result of everything we have learned along the way.” Link to Article Here.
