West Coast University is a university focused on condensed, high-intensity healthcare degrees with campuses in Southern California, Miami, and DFW. When they decided to relocate their Texas campus from Dallas to Richardson, they enlisted HRNCIR Construction and Gensler to transform a three-story commercial office building in Richardson into a dedicated health sciences campus. WCU set out to create a space that prioritized student wellness, safety, and connection, bringing academic and social life together under one thoughtfully designed roof.

At the heart of the space is a soaring three-story atrium, anchored by a sculptural interconnecting stair that encourages movement, collaboration, and visibility across campus. Gensler’s design integrates a biophilic material palette of Texas limestone, copper-toned finishes, and a living green wall, reinforcing WCU’s focus on health and scientific discovery. A custom EKG wave detail at reception nods to the school’s mission, while amenity-rich common areas and flexible classrooms support an elevated student experience.

This project marks a major investment in the future of healthcare education that is built with purpose, community focused, and designed to inspire.
